  1. My thoughts about the individual is that she seemed like a person who was pretty set on what they wanted to do. In order of her to go on the boat which that she wanted to board, she had to dress as a man because women weren't allowed. My thoughts about the individual and the events that she faced seemed a little scary. For example when she landed in Tahiti, the natives could tell that she was a woman and that was how her cover was eventually blown. All in all, her determination showed that women can accomplish just as much as men can, and that if you set your mind to it, it can be accomplished.

  2. The fact that she was willing to dress like a man to be on the boat showed that nothing could get in the way of somthing she really wanted to do. She came from a poor family but did not let that define what she would do in life. It is really sad she abandoned her baby, and shows she could not balance priorities. She had to do all of the labor as a women but could not complain because then her cover would be blown. She was eventually caught by a native of Tahiti when they landed there and she looked diffrent. She was a very brave women.

  3. My thoughts about the individual is that she suffered a lot in her life when she had to dress like a man to get on the boat with her boy friend to succeed in their goal of sailing around the world. All was well until they Got to Tahiti where a local Tahitian discovered her true identity and claimed she was a person who dressed as the opposite sex. She was kicked off the boat where she met another man and soon married and had a baby. She left the baby an orphan and returned to her home land. 9 years later she was finally given recognition of her accomplishments and was given a pay nine times that of a normal servant annually until her death.

  5. I found this article very sad. I found it sad that the woman could not do what she loves because she was a woman. I though it was weird because she had to dress like a man to sail. It got suspenseful when the tahitians could tell she wasnt a man!

  6. My thoughts on this are probably the same as other people's. It is not a question of gender one should be determined of. If someone likes to do what they do and have the passion to do it, the freedom of doing it should not be taken away and replaced with danger, thread, or having have to disguise oneself. All in all, I think she made the right decision, being tough and following her passion, which ultimately made her famous and all known.

  7. this article was very inspiring and sad. inspiring in that jeanne had the courage to pretend to be a man just so she could sail around the world. Sad in that she had many tough moments in her life having to give her son away and seeing the people she loved die. she was a great women and is an inspiration to anyone who wants to do something they love but obstacles stand in the way!
