  1. 1. What are some statistics that really made an impact on you?
One statistic that made an impact on me is that over 25% of all the world's fish stocks are either overexploited or depleted. Another 52% is fully exploited.
2.What are some possible solutions to this problem?
Some possible solutions are to limit fishing. They also say to prevent killing of fish. Keep the ocean and reefs clean. And monitor the amount of times the fisherman can land in the ocean. Pick the fish with the lowest impact.
    3. What does this article mean to you? Does it change your view on eating fish?
This article shows me that fish are in serious danger. I don't eat fish so I am not contributing to this problem, but it probably shows people to think twice about eating fish.

  2. 1.
It is a disturbing fact proven by scientists (Dr. Daniel Pauly) that within 25 years the "big" fish will extinct and there will be nothing left to eat. In fact that the marine might turn out to be a junkyard dominated by plankton.

To help stopping this severe problem. Every single one of us is able to help
-by making this problem public (tell your frineds, parents, teachers, etc.)
    -by stopping fishing
    -by not eating fish
    3.
This article shows an ignored problem which unfortunatley, will be noticed at the end when it's too late to help solving this problem. I hope people will get affected so that this problem might be solved.

  3. 1. Some statistics that made an impact on me is that there are no percentage of fish that aren't exploited to fisheries around the world. Another is that all the boats are bigger than needed to catch enough fish for our population which means we are catching more than we need and a lot is getting wasted.

    2. some possible solutions to this problem are to set a law on every big game fishing vessel limiting the amount of fish they are allowed to catch. Another solution to the problem could be making this problem public so the demand of fish would go down.

    3. This article changed my view of eating fish a little. I would rather catch my own fish by spearfishing or pole than buy it from a store that got it from a huge fishing industry. The reason for this is that it doesn't help the fishing industry and my fish is fresher.

  4. 1. Some statistics that made an impact in me was that so many fish are being fished out of the waters for no purpose and going to waste. Another is the size of the boats going out to fish these fish.

    2. Some possible solutions for this problem are to make fishing limited. Anyone who goes fishing needs to have a licsesnce and only a certain amount of fish can be caught per person with licsence.

3.This to me is a really big problem and it need to be stopped. The amount of fish being fished out of our waters needs to decrease so we can save the fish population. This definitely changes my mind about eating fish even though I don't eat fish but we do need to conserve our fish populations.

  5. 1. What are some statistics that really made an impact on you? the fact is that many fish's could be going extinct in the future because some fisherman increase their daily fishing. This also has a big effect to the food cycle in the ocean.

2.What are some possible solutions to this problem? The biggest solution would be making a state law for wherever the fisherman are fishing to make a limit on the types of fish that are being caught.

    3. What does this article mean to you? Does it change your view on eating fish? To be honest, i don't like fish but fish's do cary specific vitamin the human body would need and if every fish went extinct, it could harm the human society.

  6. Nice posts guys- Deven you had some good points about the ship size and how techology is getting bigger and better at speeding the decline of our fisheries...Will our global laws keep up at the same pace for limiting the catch size?

  7. 1. What are some statistics that really made an impact on you?
-The statistic that was really brought to my attention was that about 90% of the worldwide stocks of large predatory fish stocks are already gone. It made an impact on me because it discussed how this can lead to serious problems. One of the major problems that had a major impact on my reading was that we are in risk of losing a valuable food source that we depend on for social, economical, and dietary reasons. This directly impacts my family and I because we have fish for dinner multiple times per week.
2.What are some possible solutions to this problem?
-Some possible solutions to this problem would be for more people to start eating fish that has a higher population. We can educate others and get them to become involved also! There should be more limits on the number of fish caught by a fishery. Also, a monitoring system would also have to be involved.
    3. What does this article mean to you? Does it change your view on eating fish?
-To me this article actually means a lot because my family does consume much fish. I am not sure which fish are the most populous, but we consume much salmon, halibut, tuna, and tilapia. Hopefully by me telling my mom to maybe cook chicken instead of fish all of the time, that can help the overfishing issue in a minor way. Every person who helps makes a difference!
